Edmonton Interior Decorator | Designer Spotlight | Jonathan Adler

Rachel Zoe and Mary McDonald are my top two style icons, and now I have to add Jonathan Adler to that list. I love the energy, exuberance and unabashed joy he puts into his designs.

According to his official website, he is "dedicated to bringing style, craft and joy to your life."

It's clear to see he is influenced by mid-century modern design and pop culture. And if the image below doesn't say it all, I don't know what does...

Below are a few of my favourite rooms. I love his use of pattern, texture and high contrast colours.

Edmonton Home Stager | Interior Styling | Hawkstone Home for Sale

Home Staging and Interior Styling in Edmonton

I had the privilege to work with the sellers to prepare their property for sale. Fortunately, their home is very contemporary and well kept. They didn't need traditional staging to make their home market-ready, so they chose interior styling. Interior Styling is a combination of decluttering and accessorizing to make the home picture perfect.

Below are some before (left) and after (right) pictures. Fortunately for them I was not the photographer, because my "before" pics came out really blurry. (Do not adjust your sets! haha) Clearly there was a smudge on my camera lens that I was unaware of. Sorry, guys.

From "lived in" to lovely

From "lived in" to inviting

From "every day" to picture perfect

From "blah" to oh-la-la

From simple to simply fabulous

Our listings are also interactive -- properties can be virtually decorated.
How would you like to re-imagine this bedroom?

How would you re-do this living room to make it yours?

Edmonton Interior Decorator | The Look for Less | Fashion Police Set

This look inspired by: Fashion Police set by Jonathan Adler

If you're familiar with the phrase, "Bitch Stole My Look" then you are a devoted Joan Ranger! I regularly tune into E! online to watch Fashion Police on Friday nights. My favourite segment is their "Bitch Stole My Look" installments. (They candidly compare celebrities in look alike outfits to determine who wore it best.)

I decided to do my own take on "Bitch Stole My Look" and create a look-for-less of this Jonathan Adler designed set. From the Mongolian lam fur stools, to the Meurice chandeliers, I knew this room was going to have a haute couture price. By my estimates, this set look would cost a minimum of $24,000 (including accessories and lighting)!

The Fashion Police set for $24,000

The Look for Less by www.BuySellDecorate.com for $3500!!

So, do you think Joan Rivers would approve? Or would she say, "Bitch stole my look"?

Want to know how to get this look for less? Drop me a line!

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Colour Trend | Plum & Gold

"How do I know what colours go together?"

I hear this question a lot. Aside from giving an impromptu lesson in colour theory, I often tell my clients to look to nature. If it exists in harmony naturally, it will surely look great in your home.

Personally, I have a huge colour crush on plum and gold (or green). It's so vibrant, rich and stimulating!

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Let's Shop | West Edmonton Mall Target

I recently went on a shopping safari to Target in West Edmonton Mall. I must confess, I've never shopped in a Target south of the border before, so I had nothing to compare it to. However, a few of my friends had, and they said our Target just didn't measure up.

Here's a little of what I encountered during my first visit to the Canadian Target:

Regardless of my friends' lackluster reviews, I was pleased with my first foray to Tar-zhay! Naturally, I was most inclined to check out the home decor and accessories. I was tickled to find collections by the beloved Nate Berkus -- though everything seem well picked through already. Target also had a large collection of colourful bedding and sheets. They even offered organic cotton sheets at really reasonable prices.

Despite the obvious comparisons to Walmart and Zellers, I still think Target is a slight cut above the two. I'll definitely be back to pick up some pillows and mirrors. With up to date selections, and affordable prices, they have great offerings for home decorating and home staging.

Have you been yet -- what did you think of their selections?

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Get the Look for Less | All Hale the Navy

You see an amazing photo in a decorating magazine and you ask yourself, "How can I get that look? And how can I get it for less?"

Here's the inspiration: a masculine, eclectic inspired living room. I'd estimate the original cost at $9695. That's quite a big chunk of change if you're redecorating an entire house.

The inspiration

Here's how I got the look for MUCH less!
While the items I selected are not identical replicas, overall it would still create the same masculine, eclectic look. My shopping around allowed me to create the look for nearly $6000 LESS!
