I always say I was born 50 years too late. I'm so enamoured with the 30s, 40s and 50s that I truly feel like I belonged in those eras. But, since I can't get in a time machine and take a blast to the past, I'll have to settle for the next best thing -- indulging my love for antiques and vintage nostalgia.

I recently had the good fortune of discovering a gem of an antique and jewellery shop in the 124St area of Edmonton.  I was given a lovely guided tour by the shop hostess, Samantha. Their shop is so well organized, and the collections so well curated, it's like taking a tour through an arts museum. I could have easily spent an entire day ogling all of the goodies.

When I disclosed my love for antique and vintage furniture to Samantha, she offered to share photos of their extensive furniture collection they have stored off site. So, you're getting a chance to see what the regular customers of Beck Antiques & Jewellery do not see every day.

Below are Samantha's photos along with her own personal comments.

I repurposed this Singer Sewing Machine circa 1912, by hiding the machine in the inside compartment, and oiling it every day for a week to restore the wood. For seating I added a vintage, olive green, velvet wing back chair. My daughter added her painting for a whimsical effect.

The man bar! This Victorian early 16th Century oak bar is ornately, hand carved with lion head accents. The beauty and detailing in this piece is mind blowing. It was imported from England by a wealthy family and was occupying a turn of the century home here in Edmonton. We were lucky enough to the first call when the family moved. Of all the furniture I have appraised and seen this cabinet stands as one of the most amazing! It is such amazing artistry given that is all hand caved, as it pre dates factory made furniture. It has a complimenting cabinet.
1890's Fancy cast iron stove. In pristine condition, this is a gorgeous conversation piece. It adds a very elegant touch to the dining room.
I live for gilted frames. Everywhere and anywhere!
This 1895 Koken Barber chair is one of the first of its kind! Created by a German engineer, Koken chairs were revolutionary in being the first hydraulic chairs. With articulate details on the wood work and chrome accents, the red leather is a classic touch.
A bureau that matches the vanity. This Victorian bedroom suite is all hand carved creating that unique touch of pure elegance.
Edwardian Mahogany Tube Striking Clock, which sits at the end of the hall creating an elegant reverb when it strikes. The face is gilted giving it that luxurious touch.
This 17th Century Victorian Mahogany vanity is part of a stunning bedroom set. It was imported to Canada in the early 1900's by a wealthy family in Edmonton. It is oiled regularly to maintain the rich color of the wood. It is all hand carved which makes the ornate detailing even more impressive. It is the perfect addition to this princess room.
1905-1910 Victor- Victrola " Talking Machine". The sound quality is great given that is 100 years old! A gorgeous piece that really compliments the stove.
Gorgeous pair of William IV mahogany library chairs with superb carved work including lions heads on each arm. Circa 1830 these chairs are the perfect compliment to the bar. Making this the living room deserving of a king!
Another dresser as part of the Victorian bedroom suite. The fine, hand wood work is just stunning. I oil these every few days to keep the wood looking very healthy!
This 18th Century Red Velvet Victorian Sofa is a focal point in the living room. Accented by 18th Century paintings in gilted frames, it creates a scene right out of a history book. It is book ended by two ornate, gilted lamps. It is surprisingly comfortable and seats 6 people!
