Edmonton Home Stager | Interior Styling | Hawkstone Home for Sale

Home Staging and Interior Styling in Edmonton

I had the privilege to work with the sellers to prepare their property for sale. Fortunately, their home is very contemporary and well kept. They didn't need traditional staging to make their home market-ready, so they chose interior styling. Interior Styling is a combination of decluttering and accessorizing to make the home picture perfect.

Below are some before (left) and after (right) pictures. Fortunately for them I was not the photographer, because my "before" pics came out really blurry. (Do not adjust your sets! haha) Clearly there was a smudge on my camera lens that I was unaware of. Sorry, guys.

From "lived in" to lovely

From "lived in" to inviting

From "every day" to picture perfect

From "blah" to oh-la-la

From simple to simply fabulous

Our listings are also interactive -- properties can be virtually decorated.

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Colour Trend | Plum & Gold

"How do I know what colours go together?"

I hear this question a lot. Aside from giving an impromptu lesson in colour theory, I often tell my clients to look to nature. If it exists in harmony naturally, it will surely look great in your home.

Personally, I have a huge colour crush on plum and gold (or green). It's so vibrant, rich and stimulating!

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Let's Shop | West Edmonton Mall Target

I recently went on a shopping safari to Target in West Edmonton Mall. I must confess, I've never shopped in a Target south of the border before, so I had nothing to compare it to. However, a few of my friends had, and they said our Target just didn't measure up.

Here's a little of what I encountered during my first visit to the Canadian Target:

Regardless of my friends' lackluster reviews, I was pleased with my first foray to Tar-zhay! Naturally, I was most inclined to check out the home decor and accessories. I was tickled to find collections by the beloved Nate Berkus -- though everything seem well picked through already. Target also had a large collection of colourful bedding and sheets. They even offered organic cotton sheets at really reasonable prices.

Despite the obvious comparisons to Walmart and Zellers, I still think Target is a slight cut above the two. I'll definitely be back to pick up some pillows and mirrors. With up to date selections, and affordable prices, they have great offerings for home decorating and home staging.

Have you been yet -- what did you think of their selections?

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Home Stager | 6 Bedroom House Lessard

What is home staging and how will it prepare my home for a quick sale?

Every property, from sweet and petite, to large and stately can benefit from professional home staging.

In some cases, the home may need to be furnished with rental furniture. And other times, the home just needs to be styled working with the home owner's current items.

That is precisely what we did with this 4200 square foot, 6 bedroom river view property. The home was prepared for sale by decluttering, rearranging, and repurposing the existing household items.

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Top 10 Pro Decorating Tips

Just in case you are deciding to tackle some home improvement this weekend, I thought I would share my Top 10 Pro Tips for Interior Decorating. Everything from choosing a wall colour, how to paint your trim, to picking the perfect mirror, will be covered here. Enjoy!

"Paint your trim and walls the same colour when: A) Your trim is older and you don't want to draw attention to it, and B) When you want the walls to disappear in a wash of colour and the focus to be on the room and furniture.

"Don't be afraid to try a different shape mirror. Ditch the rectangle and try oval, round or hexagon."

"Disguise an off-center window with draperies."

"Make a galley kitchen feel more open -- upper cabinets with glass door fronts. Also, if you don't have a window, install a mirror where a window should be."

"How to live with saturated or bright colours -- use them in small doses. The white wainscoting breaks the purple down into digestible amounts."

"Boost your bathroom's elegance with 2 curtain panels and a coordinating valance."

"Staging your bathroom doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate. Seen here: a flea-market-find shelf with simple white linens, a jar full of soap, garden flowers and a container of cotton swabs. Simple and effective."

"When selecting a carpet for your dining room, make sure there is about 8-12 inches from the edge of the carpet to the legs of the chair."

"Want to add some colour to your room, but can't commit to putting it on the walls? Try the ceiling instead."

"Large wall and don't know what to do? Or don't want to hang art? Use mirrors to break up the space and add some glitz."

Would you like some real-time, real life advice? Just give me a call.
