Edmonton Home Stager | Interior Styling | Hawkstone Home for Sale

Home Staging and Interior Styling in Edmonton

I had the privilege to work with the sellers to prepare their property for sale. Fortunately, their home is very contemporary and well kept. They didn't need traditional staging to make their home market-ready, so they chose interior styling. Interior Styling is a combination of decluttering and accessorizing to make the home picture perfect.

Below are some before (left) and after (right) pictures. Fortunately for them I was not the photographer, because my "before" pics came out really blurry. (Do not adjust your sets! haha) Clearly there was a smudge on my camera lens that I was unaware of. Sorry, guys.

From "lived in" to lovely

From "lived in" to inviting

From "every day" to picture perfect

From "blah" to oh-la-la

From simple to simply fabulous

Our listings are also interactive -- properties can be virtually decorated.

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Home Stager | 6 Bedroom House Lessard

What is home staging and how will it prepare my home for a quick sale?

Every property, from sweet and petite, to large and stately can benefit from professional home staging.

In some cases, the home may need to be furnished with rental furniture. And other times, the home just needs to be styled working with the home owner's current items.

That is precisely what we did with this 4200 square foot, 6 bedroom river view property. The home was prepared for sale by decluttering, rearranging, and repurposing the existing household items.

Edmonton Interior Decorator | New Client Moodboards | Masculine & Modern

Yes, it's true...men hire decorators too. Whether they are bachelors, or married, many of my male clients enthusiastically participate in the design process.

I had the pleasure to create a design for a gentleman that recently purchased a 2500+ sq ft show home. He inherited a good part of the staging furniture, but he found the house too cold and sterile.

He wanted to keep the look masculine, modern and clean, while adding a cozy feel to the house. We banished a lot of the black leather, chrome and glass and brought in rich wood tones, textured fabrics and wallpaper. We worked together through a series of one-on-one shopping trips, as well as working together on the development of the room designs.

Here is a partial collection of the moodboards we created for the bonus room, formal dining, lounge and office.

Edmonton Interior Decorator | Top 10 Staging Mistakes | Home Sellers

Calling all Home Owners: If you are thinking of putting your home for sale, please remember that this is likely the biggest investment of your life. Treat it as such. Here are the top 10 staging mistakes I have encountered in the industry. Do not make these staging mistakes with your home!

10. "I love it, so everyone else must." Put away your collection of model cars and porcelain figurines. This is neither a trade show nor a museum.

9. Oversized furniture in under sized spaces. You're making your home look small and cramped. The opposite of what buyers are looking for.

8. Hiding trouble spots. That strategically placed carpet or flower pot should be for decorative purposes -- not to hide carpet stains or damage to the floor.

7. Ignoring the small things: Clean the blinds, and ceiling fan. Buyers want to think the home is well cared for.

6. Over powering air fresheners. Don't over do it with artificial scents. They'll wondering what you're covering up.

5. Over stuffing closets & cupboards. Buyers will look in there. If it looks small and cramped they are going to fear lack of adequate space.

4. Leaving poochie's toys and food bowls out. Don't want a buyer taking an unexpected dip in a bowl full of doggy water.

3. Leaving the bathroom (or any room) with a lived-in look. Put away soggy towels, toothbrushes, and other personal grooming tools.

2. Closing all the blinds & lights before a showing. Create a bright and welcoming environment by letting the sunshine in!

1. Thinking that professional home staging & photography won't make a difference in the sale of your home. After all, look at these REAL examples of MLS pictures of staging gone WRONG.

Now, let's see the flipside of the coin! Here are the top 10 staging tips!
