Why Painting Fabric Will Make You Question Everything

Design trends come and go, but budgets don't always keep pace with these trends. The floral sofa you spent thousands on last decade is now terribly out of date and is a giant eyesore in the center of your living room. So what do you do? Re-upholstering can be very costly and pre-fabricated slipcovers come in limited sizes and colours. Do you live with the floral monstrosity or shell out more hard earned money to keep up with the Joneses?

Edmonton Decorator | Benjamin Moore Colour of the Year

Benjamin Moore is one of my favourite paint manufacturers. And in addition to Pantone, I look to them for the upcoming colour trends.

I've been saying for a while that green will become the new "IT" colour in interior design and decorating. So, I was pleased to see Benjamin Moore name Guilford Green as their colour of the year for 2015.

But, is this Benjamin Moore paint colour a "bore" or a "score"?


I will admit that I have not seen this colour in real life. But my verdict is, that this colour is a BORE. I love green for its calming effects, but I find this shade to be far too reminiscent of out dated hospital rooms and elder care facilities.

Benjamin Moore also published a list of of their "green family" for 2015. Thankfully, this list had some redeeming colours. I love the vibrancy of Split Pea! It would be great in a kitchen or living room. Antique Jade and Sea Horse both get honourable mention. The other colours are utterly forgettable.

I've been spotting them all over the place: blouses, scarves, shoes, purses, gloves and even on manicures. And what dominates in fashion, is soon to follow in home decor. What am I talking about? It's polka dots, of course!

Edmonton Decorator | Professional Organizing and Decluttering

Just call me the Disaster Master

How has 2014 been treating you so far? Who has made a resolution to get their life or home organized and decluttered?

On January 1st, I went through my house like a clutter-seeking missile to eradicate my space of any superfluous items. After my 30 minute mission, I was done with my clutter busting. But, I was HUNGRY for more.

That's why, I have decided to offer a new service to my clients: Professional Organization and Decluttering.

Below are a few pictures from a recent project to help a client declutter and organize their home. (I apologize in advance for the pics. I got so caught up, I forgot to take photos of some rooms. And the other photos were taken in extreme haste. But, you get the idea...)
